Day 12: Fearless

Genre: Prose
Universe:  QuickSilver
Rating: PG-13 / TW: None

[ For a different writing challenge, I wrote prose about the fears and hesitations of QuickSilver characters. Today I’m doing something similar, showing where they are fearless or confronting the things that scare them. ]

William: Where others fear to tread, you dance with twilight on your soles. The strange, the unusual, the ghost, the ghoul, the specter; some are friends but they all hold knowledge you hunger for. Clever boy skipping through mirrors, you too are a servant of the Moon.

Cole: Invisible ties held you back all those years, but the scissors are in your hand now. Snip, snip, snip, every toxic thread. Paint your lips blood red. Hold your head higher than ever before as you walk into uncharted territory and discover the world anew.

Quill: Your hands may shake, but when push comes to shove, you’re ready. A stroll through Hell is not so bad, at least for those you hold dear. One day that shadow won’t have so much weight, but until then you’ll take it a day at a time.

Chip: The crowd is there, just beyond the curtain, ready to tear your confidence to shreds. Fix your collar, straighten your shoulders, waltz up to that mic like she’s the lady of the evening. You eat hecklers for breakfast. The stage is yours.

Goose: There is no tree, no valley, no cliff beyond your reach. If they say it is a fool’s errand, you’ll put it at the top of your afternoon list. You know that failure is just a step in learning and skinned knees happen - they won’t stop you. Nothing will.

Liam: They thought they could hunt you and break you, but you turned the tables. You are Achilles with a grizzly heart. You’ll jar their ashes for your collection. You’ll grit your teeth and push on through, you know nothing else.

Orion: It all felt like a trap and that’s why you had to find the path yourself. It has left you older, wiser, and more skilled than you thought ever possible. Careful hands, senses filled, maybe now you’re brave enough to let someone in.

Shade: Your skin is made of tenacity, the muscle underneath is woven stubbornness. You’ll never admit what scares you, because it does not deserve a voice. You’ll drown it in silence and you’ll keep your blade sharp - that’s what heroes do.

Adri: They’ll never stop teasing you, Little Girl, but you are no longer a doormat. You know what to do. You’ll slay them, murder them, tear them apart, but you’ll do it the worst way; dripping and acheing with kindness.

Jamie: Some may say you’re too stupid to understand fear, but you do. You just chose not to accept it. It’s the Fae Way, is it not? It’s not real if you don’t believe in it.
